Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardian,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome all our students, families and staff back to the final term of the year. As your children have returned to school after a well-deserved break following a very busy Term 3, it is important to begin by mentioning the most significant events of this term.

Colours of the World: Sirius College co-hosted the biggest event of our 2019 school calendar on Sunday, 26th October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. There were many spectacular performances, demonstrated by more than 90 students from 16 different countries, which highlighted the cultural mosaic of Australia and the world in which we live. Colours of the World performers spent a week together in Melbourne and established close bonds. These young performers from all corners of the globe have become our peace ambassadors; advocating for a world united in harmony and friendship.

Organising such a big event required a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff, students and parents who were actively involved in this spectacular event. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Ms Madeleine, Ms Cansu, Mrs Anna and Ms Thilini, our choir and dance students and their parents. Your months of tireless effort and commitment truly paid off with the amazing performances demonstrated by our students! Seeing our students and teachers on stage at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre performing in front of more than 2,000 spectators was truly something to be proud of! Also, a special thanks to Mrs Ruveyda and Mrs Burcu for organizing the cheer group, mingling activities and a fun night for Sirius College and IFLC students. Well done to our cheering group. You changed the whole atmosphere and brought excitement and joy to the overall program with your energy. Also, many thanks to our Pastoral Care teachers who offered their time, supervised the cheer group and assisted in airport welcomes/farewells and tour groups. I also must mention our school captain and her speech. Yasemin represented our school proudly in the best way and her message was wonderful: ‘peace and unity’ is what we need most all around the world. A huge thank you to Yasemin for the wonderful speech and meaningful message given to the community!

Once again, thank you to everyone who made this event very special and successful.

VCE study camp, exam and Year 12 Graduation: Our Year 12 students have recently completed their VCE camp and Trial exams. I wholeheartedly thank all Year 12 teachers who attended the VCE camp and helped our students. A huge thanks to Mrs Inass for organizing the VCE Study Camp successfully. After a challenging high school experience, now is the time for our Year 12 students to sit the VCE exams and reap the fruits of their enormous efforts throughout the years. Our best wishes and prayers are with them. The Year 12 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday, 28th November at Luxor Reception. All Year 12 parents and families are cordially invited to this important milestone. More information will be given in due course.

End of Year Award Ceremony: The End of Year Award Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 13th November 6:00 pm at Serenity Hall. We cordially invite all parents to attend on the day. Awards will be distributed on the day and there will also be a variety of student performances.

I wish everyone a very successful final term, full of joy and happiness.

Warm regards,

Mr. Ilhan Eroglu
